Patrick Stump: "I'm Not in Fall Out Boy"
News
Fall Out Boy's indefinite hiatus is looking a lot more permanent today.
Speaking exclusively to SPIN.com on Tuesday afternoon, frontman Patrick Stump discussed the status of the Chicago-bred quartet -- and said that the multi-platinum band may never return.
"I'm not in Fall Out Boy right now," said the 25-year-old rocker. "But one way or another, the band will always be around. Steven Tyler isn't in Aerosmith anymore, but his gravestone will probably say something about Aerosmith. Whether we play again or not, I don't know. If we do, it will be for the right reasons. If we don't, it will also be for the right reasons."
Stump's comments were in response to Pete Wentz's Tweets Monday night, when Wentz said that FOB may be done for good. "A hiatus is forever until you get lonely or old. I don't plan on either," he wrote during an impromptu Q&A session with fans. "I can't imagine playing in FOB again." He echoed the statements on his blog, writing, "…as a band we grew apart," and, "letting go of this giant part of my life has been hard."
FOB went inactive following a lengthy U.S. tour opening for Blink-182, but the band's four members have been busy working on new projects since -- and Stump "doesn't want anything to get in the way."
In FOB's downtime, Wentz has recorded a new song for the Alice in Wonderland soundtrack with Blink's Mark Hoppus; guitarist Joe Trohman and drummer Andy Hurley formed the Damned Things with members of Anthrax (Hurley also formed the Burning Empires); and now Stump is working on a solo album -- and even released video from inside the studio.
"I'm really not worried about Fall Out Boy," Stump said. "I'm so psyched about where I'm at right now, recording this solo album."
Check back next week for our full interview with Stump about his new record.

Shame to hear their going their separate ways but I'm not all that sad because of Patrick's solo thing, and Andy and Joe's project, also Pete with his family and being the spokesman of the tap project http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/pete-wentz-named-unicef-tap-proj... Good luck from all their fans.

When you knock up a bitch and then have a shotgun wedding, the band is the entity that is going to suffer. As soon as that happened, I knew the end was near.
It's all good though, FOB ran it's course. Pete's loss, Patrick's gain as a solo artist.
As for Andy and Joe? Well seriously I think only Andy can hang with the likes of Scott Ian. Joe is sloppy live and couldn't touch riffs like Anthrax, especially if he's still on the Chronic.

everyone who thinks that the break up is real, don't count on it. they are really cool guys with huge hearts. and whoever said that Pete needs to be replaced, you aren't a true fan of fall out boy. except them for who they are. they are loving people just like us. that doesn't mean you judge them. oh well if you could give a rats ass about them. they are an amazing band. and why even read this if you don't like them? YOU ARE A ****ING IDIOT AND NEED TO GET A LIFE. if they break up, i wish them a good life. i would be the first to know too. since i AM an overcast kid.

Pete is great even though he acts like he isn't interested in the music at all. Being in a popular band like he is it is sometimes hard to not to show off and stuff. But i agree it is too bad they split and i am disappointed i never got to enjoy seeing them in concert. I do hope the damned things gets to be a popular band because that kind of light metal is an enjoyable genre for me

No, you guys. you got it all wrong. yes, Patrick is the singer but he's NOT the frontman. Pete is, & he is the lyricist. Patrick was & is still shy or he would have wanted to take the role of being frontman. dont bash pete for being all up front. but i agree with pete being the marketing genius. but i dont think he's being a dick. lol hopefully Patrick will come out of his shell. <3

I had no idea that anything was wrong....good luck to all of the boys especially Patrick, he deserves it. I don't know all of the details about Pete but he really needs to focus on his wife and son and not worry so much about the spotlight but if he really writes all of the lyrics think of "I don't care" "I don't care what you think as long as it's about me..." That explains it all.

okay i hate to say this, but based on past interviews that stump has done, i do not think that he has the confidence to go out and do the solo thing. it is one thing to actually make the music, it is another thing to promote it. that is where wentz came into play. that guy is a marketing genius and people do need to give him that credit. i don't see this solo thing go very far.

I am not a Fall Out Boy or emo fan, but I'm quite happy Patrick Stump's going to do things on his own. His voice is really good, and he seems pretty talented. On the other hand, Wentz seems to seek a lot of attention. I guess Patrick can now focus more on being a musician which is a very good thing. We'll see what happens.

This is a sad thing to hear. I love this band, and they mean alot to me. I swear I have a curse; like a band and something like this happens! I'm not as sad, though, when I heard Patrick is doing his own stuff now. I can't wait to hear it! But, I have to say; good luck boys!

Fall out boy? I don't know of this fall out boy. Is he a singer? Can he sing like Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears? Fall out boy. Funny name that fall out boy. Is he an American idol this fall out boy? I hope so. They're good singers. Not at good as Justin Timberlake but good enough.

Take This To Your Grave was the last time they sounded like they were all pulling in the same direction. Should be regarded as a touchstone of the emo era. The irony was the more units they moved the more their loyal fanbase eroded. Probably good for them to take some time off and return when/if true chemistry is present. I'm looking forward to Joe & Andy's metal project with Scott Ian. I see Patrick pulling a Linda Perry and stepping out of the spotlight to develop new artists with fresh writing. With fame comes backlash and they earned both. Time to enjoy some of that cash.
