Seattle grunge stalwarts Pearl Jam have just announced a Spring tour in continued support of their chart-topping (and SPIN-praised) album Backspacer.

EdVed and Co. will hit 11 cities throughout the Midwest and East Coast, kicking off in Kansas City and ending with two shows at New York's Madison Square Garden May 20-21.

The September SPIN-cover stars (who scored Artist of the Year and Album of the Year titles in SPIN's 2009 Readers' Poll) are also on deck to perform on this week's Saturday Night Live!

Opening the bulk of the tour will be Band of Horses, who are readying their third album, Infinite Arms, for a May 18 release date. Blues-rockers the Black Keys (whose new album Brothers will also be out on May 18) will replace Band of Horses to open Peal Jam's May 20 show in NYC.

Tickets for PJ's U.S. tour go on sale March 19.

Im 28, and I think that my generation should be greatfull that we have Pearl Jam in our lives . With so many of our fallen bands of our generation , Pearl Jam survives. I just REALLY hope they come to Chicago REALLY ,REALLY BADDDDDDDDDD.....I havent seen them live yet, and I never got to see Kurt, or Layne...Eddie Vedder is someone YOU CAN look up to. Whatever hes does, he does it right , same for the band. They all fire on all pistons in unison and would be lucky to see them before I die, which may be sooner than Id like, PLEASE come to Chicago, charge what you want , Ill pay whatever it is to sit in the nose bleed seat, just to say I got to see one of my childhood bands that Ive always LOVED, RESPECTED, and ADMIRED as musicians and people .

Stupid, Stupid, Stupid!!!!!!!!!!!
The American Public is paying for a study like this??? This just makes me sad, and you STUPID! The FACT remains that your so called, "STUDY," fails to take into account that he has great range, no excuses, and sings songs that HE and his band mates WRITE THEMSELVES! Try to wrap that around your narrow mind. Writing songs is the hard work and this band stands the test of time. 20 years of KICK ass music needs no justification to someone who listens to another band and makes comparisons from his mother's couch. I challenge you to go to a Pearl Jam concert, if you can afford it on your Burger King budget, and watch from afar, AS EDDIE VEDDER TAKES TOTAL CONTROL OVER A CROWD AND LEAVES YOU SPEECHLESS!!!!! I fail to see Eddie Vedder making TV shows to "RECREATE" a band or a sound, he is making his own music the way he would choose without any Apology. Those of us with our own thoughts, who don't listen to some no rate e-magazine for our opinions, listen in awe as EV, Stone Gossard, Mike McCreedy, Jeff Ament, and Matt Cameron continue their tour and don't spend time listening to a word you have said about them or some band, they don't even know, that just happen to sound like them.

Really stupid? They been have been relevant and on the charts for 20 years now. If his voice was as you described this would not be the case. What generation of singers are talking about anyway? If you can tell me which 1 of your EMO brand bands will be around in 20 years, I would be completely floored! So take your bitchy pop bands and stuff them up your ass!

Eddie Vedder Inspires Yet Another Generation of Jackass Singers

STOCKTON, CA-According to a study addressing an over fifteen year trend of the worst vocalists in the history of rock ‘n’ roll, Pearl Jam vocalist, Eddie Vedder, seems to be the original source of that trend, as well as the continuing reason the trend has yet to waver over the years. Apparently, he not... »

well, another tour and Pittsburgh is left out... it could be because a new show venue is being built and won't be ready until fall of 2011.
but the mellon arena is still taking on shows, or even the Post Gazette Pavillion in Burgettstown. I miss seeing Ed and the boys. I guess I'll be driving to Ohio. I think Pittsburgh gives them plenty of love
